Cerebrate the Sweat yomari
Celebrated on the full moon day of December or Marga Sukla Purnima of Hindu calendar every year especially among Newar community in Kathmandu valley, This festival is the celebration on completion of harvesting rice. It is an offering to Annapurna , goddess of food and grains as a gratitude for her blessings on growing the paddy till the harvest.
The process of Making Yomari is quiet interesting. The rice flour ( pa : chung in Newari) is kneaded with hot water, then a special round shape is made where the hot brown cane sugar (chaku) and sesame seeds. The taste is delicious. The sweetness of the chaku melts in the mouth with the soft rice dough.
